too good and sad to not share.

the Acklin wedding-Edmond, OK
jordo and lauren. i love em. one of the funnest, craziest couples i’ve ever met. its good when people are up for anything, because i usually have all sorts of ideas and plans going thru my head for the next shot. and the acklin’s are just that kind of couple, fun loving and creative. i layed on the shutter button like there was no tomorrow…and thats how any wedding photographer always needs to be. there is nothing like coming away from a wedding, looking at what you’ve shot, and feeling like you really captured the moment. like you froze the day at its best.
lighting for the formal shots was all with two bare AB400s at full pwr. bounced off the rear upper ceiling of the church sanctuary. they were both about 10 foot high, slightly angled up. it created an even coverage of soft light, also made it easy for me to move around and get that beautiful light anywhere i was in the sanctuary.

maylee (and a few of conner)
ive known the mcmanamans for some time now and they are like family to my wife and i. so i was stoked to get to take maylee’s photos several weekends ago. maylee is full of personality and never stands still, so it was all sorts of fun getting to photograph her. my philosophy for photographing kids that i’ve had for some time is to let them do their thing. there is nothing more ridiculous to me than trying to pose a child. let them jump, scream, tell stories…whatever. just my advice, you will get the most natural and fun photos that way. conner, her older brother, had to jump in for a few so i could photograph his muscle man pose. classic!
lighting:
3 AB400’s set in a triangle. one full pwr directly over my head thru a beauty dish. then the other two…one to my right shoulder thru a medium sized softbox, the other to my left shot into an umbrella, both set to about half pwr.

i’ve been busy.
the holidays were crazy and a bit overwhelming, but i wouldn’t have it any other way.

jessica
recently got the opportunity to shoot jessica for her senior photos. it was a bit chilly as winter is setting in. and in oklahoma there is no way to get away from the wind, but jessica was fun and up for anything, which made my job alot easier.
lit mostly with a single AB400 thru a beauty dish and a reflector when needed. i can do all sort of fancy stuff with a bunch of lights but it seems things come out the best when i keep it simple and go with my vision for the photos i’m doing. i think these are a pretty stellar example of that.

To West Texas…
Caitlin & Landon-Odessa, Tx
on a +9 hour drive thru the middle of the night to odessa, it was only appropriate to have explosions in the sky playing. i don’t think words like “awesome” or “rad” would do the experience i had with this wedding justice. i feel i’m coming to a place in my photography that no matter the situation or setting, i’ve been blessed with enough grace to make beautiful photos. this photography that i do, is not about the money, don’t get me wrong..money is good and i like it when people pay me good. for me, it’s about connecting with people at their most intimate moments.
if you’re gonna be good/successful at this photography game. you’ve gotta come to a place of not being self-consumed when you get hired….but humbled that you got chosen to witness and document the beginning of two peoples lives together.
this wedding was one of the most challenging experiences i’ve had in quite some time. mentally…physically…and the list goes on. and i loved it.
this is sick…i mean nasty…i mean ridiculous.

allison and mike
this was an engagement shoot i did this past weekend. overcast a bit rainy and perfect for photos. i got hooked up with allison and mike at a wedding i was shooting this past summer. it’s so rad to meet people that you don’t know, but they love your work. allison booked me a few months ago for her wedding next summer. my schedule is already getting full, but i’m glad i had a space for this couple. they were fun and easy going. pretty natural in front of the camera. made it so much easier for me to get the kind of photos i always try to get.
lighting was fun on this one, as the overcast sky provided me with alot of options to play with. mainly done with a single AB400 thru a beauty dish set to full pwr.
